On this Saturday’s NO KINGS Events

NO KINGS marches and rallies are scheduled across the nation on Saturday.  In previous posts, I have encouraged all who could to participate in the earlier NO KINGS events.

And yet … I’m not as much in favor of this one.

First, although the previous rallies obviously did nothing to affect the anti-democratic tactics of the Trump Regime, in my view they were truly valuable, by providing protestors – during the months right after the 2024 election when they were understandably feeling Constitutionally powerless — emotional sustenance:  concrete reassurance that there were millions of Americans across the country who were as opposed to the Regime’s activities as they were.

That said, I’m wondering whether at this point, a NO KINGS march, in and of itself, is the most effective way to legally effectively oppose the Regime’s activities.  With all due regard to those who do march – frankly, we haven’t yet decided what we will do — one might consider spending the day assisting a campaign of an office seeker(s) who oppose the Regime’s policies or participating in a “Get Out the Vote” initiative (I understand some NO KINGS events will include such “Vote” initiatives).  Over the last couple of months, we’ve been engaged with campaigns and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Although polls indicate a “Blue Wave,” we’ve encountered some pretty firm Republicans in the last weeks (polite, but firm 😊).  They are going to vote.  Never underestimate the power of culture and tribal loyalty.

Every campaign undoubtedly has a website, and I’m fairly confident that there is a Democratic Party headquarters in every county in which a Democrat has any chance of winning.  One might be an Independent; no matter.  The Democrats are happy to have your help.

Second, I am concerned that agents of the Regime may view Saturday’s events as an opportunity.  Are you willing to entirely reject the possibility that they’ll look to incite unrest at one or more of the NO KINGS rallies as a pretext to deploy ICE or the National Guard?  To invoke the Insurrection Act?  To suspend the elections?

So if you – or we — do participate in a NO KINGS rally this Saturday, we need to be aware.  To be careful.  To be peaceful.  To ignore provocations.

Stay well.
